I grew up in Mt. Olive, North Carolina. My mother was a stay-at-home mom who raised my sister, two brothers, and me. My father supported us all as an enlisted man in the Air Force. I spent my early school years at a private christian school, but my middle and high school years in the public school system. I spent a few years bouncing between universities, but ultimately became an entrepreneur. I bought my first restaurant at 19 years old.
Business ownership is a very difficult and grueling thing. During my twenties, I opened over a dozen busiensses. Many did well, but some did not. The road to success is pot-marked with many failures. Overcoming obstacles, challenges, and adversities is the game of business as well as life.
My wife and I moved around the state as we opened various businesses. Once we began having children, we slowly decreased the number of businesses we were juggling. When we moved to Washington in 2010 we knew we had found home. Our kids have all grown up here.
We have traveled through the mountain towns of North Carolina and toured the ancient cities in Europe, but Washington is our home. It is such a beautiful, quaint, waterfront community. The Washington of 1925 is not the same as the Washington of 2025 and yet both have small town charm. I hope we can preserve all of our small town charm while bringing us into the future.
